Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine is located in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. Founded in 1956, it is a co-constructed institution by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, as well as a university designated for national mid-western basic capacity building. The university focuses on disciplines of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), while promoting coordinated development across medicine, science, engineering, management, and other fields. It is distinguished by its distinctive features in TCM and ethnic medicine, close integration of industry, education, research, and clinical practice, and significant strengths in international exchanges and cooperation. The university has two campuses—Xianhu and Mingxiu—covering a total area of over 1,300 mu (approximately 86.7 hectares). Currently, there are more than 17,000 full-time students enrolled and 818 full-time faculty members, including four nationally renowned TCM experts and five national outstanding teachers. The university comprises 17 secondary colleges, six independent research institutes, 15 affiliated hospitals (including three directly affiliated hospitals), and one pharmaceutical company. It hosts four high-level key TCM disciplines recognized by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 19 key TCM disciplines (including cultivating disciplines), three first-class disciplines in Guangxi, four Guangxi key disciplines with distinctive advantages, and six Guangxi key disciplines. Clinical Medicine and Pharmacology & Toxicology have entered the top 1% globally in ESI rankings. Approved by the Ministry of Education, the university is authorized to confer bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, and is one of China’s first higher education institutions qualified to admit international students. Since 1976, it has been enrolling international students and serves as the talent training base for the China–ASEAN Traditional Medicine Exchange and Cooperation Center under the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Its international exchanges and education programs are centered on ASEAN countries and extend across the globe.
