Located in Liuzhou, a national historical and cultural city, Liuzhou City Vocational College (LCVC) is a state-run full-time higher vocational college and a high-level vocational college and construction unit in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.With over 80 years of history, LCVC covers an area of 67 hectares, and currently has 18,000 full-time students, including more than 300 international students. LCVC has 11 teaching departments, including Schools of Mechatronics and Automobile Engineering, Tourism and Health Care, Architecture and Art Design, Teacher Education, Business Management, Information Technology, and International Education. It offers more than 40 three-year higher vocational majors, including artificial intelligence, embodied AI robot, electrical automation, new energy vehicle technology, smart elderly care service and management, advertising art design, low-altitude logistics technology, software technology, e-commerce, and tourism management. The two major clusters—Electrical Automation and Smart Elderly Care Service and Management—have been selected into Guangxi’s new round of high-level vocational program development. The college has one national key major and five provincial-level demonstrative and key majors. LCVC, together with Hangzhou Unitree Robotics Co., Ltd. and Guangxi Weishidun Technology Co., Ltd., has jointly established the first “Unitree School of Embodied AI Robot” among higher vocational colleges in China. It continues to promote AI-empowered smart campus construction and has deepened integration with major enterprises such as SGMW and Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co., Ltd. to jointly train high-skilled talents and conduct R&D on advanced technology applications. Since 2004, LCVC has been committed to international education. It has established cooperative relations with more than 30 institutions in over 20 countries, and has enrolled and educated more than 2,500 international students from nearly 50 countries. It hosts the only International Chinese Language Testing Center among higher vocational colleges in Guangxi, and has been selected as a “Cultivation School for Studying in Guangxi” in the China-ASEAN Education Opening-up Cooperation Pilot Zone. It has been awarded the Excellent Unit for International Student Education in Guangxi for seven consecutive years, and took the lead in passing the quality certification for higher vocational education for international students. LCVC has established overseas alumni associations in Jakarta, Indonesia and Vientiane, Laos, and continues to play the role of international alumni as a bridge linking educational cooperation and economic exchanges between China and foreign countries. As one of the early higher vocational colleges in China to implement “vocational education going global”, LCVC has been consecutively listed among the Top 50 Higher Vocational Colleges for International Influence and one of the first “China-ASEAN Outstanding TVET Partners”. It has taken the lead in establishing the China-ASEAN New Energy Vehicle Industry-Education Integration Community with 89 member units. It has built the Laos Luban Workshop (national-level), the China-Indonesia New Energy Vehicle Modern Craftsmanship College (provincial-level), and the China-Vietnam “AI + Commercial Vehicle Technology” Talent Training Base, as well as co-established the China-Indonesia Dual Bases for Vocational Education Teacher Training with the Department of Education of West Java, Indonesia. LCVC has collaborated with Sapienza University of Rome to innovate an integrated model of “Eastern Craftsmanship + Western Technology”, forming systematic solutions for historic building conservation. It has also cooperated with the Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs of Myanmar and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Laos to provide technical support for the conservation of cultural heritage buildings in Southeast Asia. Moreover, the China-ASEAN Vocational Education Research Center has established the “Indonesia Vocational Education Research Institute” at LCVC, making it one of Guangxi’s think tanks for country-specific vocational education research on ASEAN. Through close academic exchanges and cooperation with ASEAN countries, LCVC continues to enhance mutual learning and consensus between China and ASEAN.
