Guangxi Minzu University was founded in 1952 and is situated in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Covering an area of 3,600 mu (2.4 million square meters), the university has three campuses, namely Xiangsihu, Siyuanhu and Wuming. Endowed with a pleasant campus scenery, elegant and classic architectures as well as a profound humanistic atmosphere, it is an excellent place for study and academic research. The university now offers 76 undergraduate programs covering 11 disciplines, with 26 master's degree authorization points, 5 doctoral degree authorization points and 1 post-doctoral research station. Engineering and Chemistry have entered the top 1% of ESI global discipline rankings. It is honored as the "Key University for Supporting Chinese Language Teaching in Neighboring Countries" and the "Implementation Institution of the Funding Program for Overseas Chinese Teachers to Receive Training in China". It has set up three Confucius Institutes in Thailand, Laos and Indonesia, together with six affiliated Confucius Classrooms, having trained over 280,000 participants of various categories. As an early practitioner in international student education, the university began to enroll international students in the 1980s. Up to now, it has admitted more than 27,000 international students from 87 countries and regions across the globe, ranking among the preferred universities for ASEAN students studying in China. Currently, it has launched "2+2" dual-degree joint training programs for international students with multiple partner universities in Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia and other countries. It also carries out "3+2" college-to-university upgrading programs with more than ten higher vocational colleges in Guangxi, and jointly organizes professional internship programs for international students with institutions including the University of Finance and Economics, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Building the brand of "Study at Guangxi Minzu University", the university has developed a complete talent cultivation system covering bachelor, master and doctoral programs. In 2023, it successfully passed the higher education quality certification for international students organized by the Ministry of Education of China. The university actively builds international scientific research cooperation platforms. It has co-constructed international joint laboratories with Universitas Padjadjaran of Indonesia and the National University of Laos respectively. It has hosted a great number of international academic conferences and conducted in-depth international scientific research cooperation, continuously improving its global academic influence. Guangxi Minzu University is one of the earliest open universities in China. Since its establishment, the university has received numerous foreign dignitaries and guests, including King Norodom Sihanouk and Former Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia, Former President Tran Duc Luong of Vietnam, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand, President Thongloun Sisoulith, Former Prime Minister Bousone Bouphavanh and Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone of Laos. It has conferred honorary doctorate degrees upon Former Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia and Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of Laos.
