Guangxi Vocational & Technical College was formerly known as Guangxi Labor College founded in 1965. In 1998, it was approved by the Ministry of Education and became one of the first public higher vocational colleges in Guangxi to be restructured independently. The College is an outstanding construction unit under the national “Double-high Plan” and a national high-quality higher vocational college. The College has been awarded the honorary title of “Outstanding Unit for International Student Education in Guangxi Higher Education” for 4 consecutive years. In 2023, it was selected as one of the universities and colleges constructed to be Overseas Students Studying in Guangxi Bases of China-ASEAN Education Opening-up and Cooperation Experimental Zone. In 2024, the College was selected into the first batch of “China-ASEAN Thousand School Hands Together Program”, and it passed the Higher Vocational Education Accreditation for International Students in China (HVEAIS-4 years). Located in Nanning Airport Economic Zone, the College boasts a picturesque landscape and a vibrant cultural ambiance. It is characterized by its unique “Three Fragrances” concept (fragrance of books, flowers, and tea) and the renowned “Si Ming” culture. With a beautiful environment and complete facilities, the College is an ideal place for students to pursue further study. By implementing projects such as the introduction and cultivation of master craftsmen and distinguished educators, the improvement of teachers’ three core competencies, and the cultivation of structured teaching teams, the College has established diversified cross-organizational platforms for teacher professional growth, including collaborations with enterprises and inter-departmental partnerships. Consequently, the College has developed a high-caliber, professional, and innovative faculty that combines full-time and part-time teachers, aligning with the College’s talent development model and distinctive educational philosophy. Responding to the Belt and Road Initiative, the College has participated in international production capacity services and taken the lead in establishing the China-ASEAN Border Vocational Education Alliance. Centering on the principle of “Bringing in, Strengthening Connotation, Going Global and Establishing Brands”, the College has achieved remarkable results in improving its internationalization level. Since 2016, the College has enrolled international students from countries along the Belt and Road Initiative. Since 2017, it has carried out full-time academic education for international students, integrating into their cultivation the “Si Ming” cultural philosophy of “ethical excellence, technical mastery, and aesthetic refinement”. It has developed standards based on the localization of international high-quality resources and improved the quality of international talent education, forming an international student cultivation model of “Consolidating Chinese Basic Knowledge, Highlighting Vocational Skills, Strengthening Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Linking up with Vocational and Undergraduate Education”. Relying on transnational cooperation platforms such as the “China-Thailand Institute of Modern Craftsmanship of Intelligent Manufacturing”, the “Silk Road Tea Institute”, and the ASEAN Technical Service and Training Center, the College has launched substantive operation projects, including the China-ASEAN Vocational Education Curriculum Shared Platform, joint cultivation and exchange of students between China and foreign countries, faculty training programs, and the “Chinese + Vocational Skills” project. It has developed a series of professional teaching standards, course standards, and shared courses recognized by institutions in ASEAN countries. Notably, 39 of these resources have been accredited at or above the autonomous regional level. the College has provided technical support and training for “going global” enterprises. It has been selected as one of the second batch of China-ASEAN Higher Vocational Colleges Characteristic Cooperation Programs and the first batch of China-ASEAN Outstanding Partners in Technical and Vocational Education and Training.
